Vacation Series… Vacation Success!!!
So, if you have been following along you have seen my vacation series outlining how to plan a great getaway. I hope the post were helpful and led to a fun summer vacation for you and your friends or family.
So I followed my own steps of course and had a wonderful couples trip in West Palm Beach, FL. With a day in South Beach Miami to boot.
I would love to say it ran perfectly smooth, but what is a vacay without some unexpected hiccups. So here is how it went, followed by what I will chance for next year :
So we left Pittsburgh via Delta on a Sunday with a layover at LAU in NYC. With PGH airport being familiar it was breeze getting to our gate, grabbing breakfast and window shopping. Our plane was small, no leg room and not much room to stand, my friend hit her head standing to deplane lol. The attendants seemed to hate their job and were rude, apparently a Delta standard. In NYC we were rained delayed then to heavy to take off. 6 volunteers had to deplane. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale an hour late. We picked up or Hertz rental, a Chrysler 300 , and headed to paradise.
West Palm Beaches’ Marriott’s Ocean Pointe Resort. Our guest room was big with a kitchenette. The resort had grills to cook as well as 3 pools, 3 hot tubs, bars, games and more. With the beach behind it.
The beach had a lot of jelly fish, but down the road 10 min a public beach had less. It was a nice place however, not many things in walking distance and the pools closed at 11. A lot of kids and the food on the resort was terrible. Overall the stay was comfortable. I would not stay her again ONLY because of location. Not much to see the beach was a steep drop off and there were tons of jelly fish.
We spent a day in Southbeach, no complaints here. It was lovely. We also banana boated in Pompano Beach, SOOOOOO MUCH FUN. The beach itself was murky and a ton of dead sea weed, not a place to swim.
The return delta trip was hellish. Our flight was delayed so we would miss our connection Delta did nothing to help, we had to pay for a hotel, extra food and taxi. We finally left the following morning.
Overall the vacation was a success, the only thing I would chance is flying Delta.
